Safety first!

Safety at the fire department is our number one concern. Ours, and then yours. We don't want anyone to need our services, but if they do need them then we don't want to be injured as a result of providing said service. We have day jobs to go to and don't want to interrupt our vocation for our avocation. Plus, injuries usually cause pain which takes some of the fun out of volunteering.

Having said that, I hope you will forgive me for being a little preachy. Please always remember to:
  • turn the iron off before leaving home
  • fasten your seat belt
  • firmly clasp the hand rails if you must stand while utilizing public transportation.
For example, take a look at the picture. Do you see how the provided hand rail is being tightly clenched? Notice the secure hold? The beautiful stance, leaning back against a firm base?

I'm really impressed with that old guy. He looks like a seasoned traveler.

I'll bet riding a subway doesn't get any better than that.
